Welcome! I’m Wendy Brooks.
My journey into psychotherapy began as I worked through my struggles with anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I earned my M.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Global. I feel fortunate to have gained experience in various settings, including community health clinics and non-profit mental health practices in Northern California. I enjoy working with adult clients, helping them process their past, face current challenges, and find solutions to help them realize their preferred future.
I am a Licensed marriage and family therapist. I am also a PsyD. student completing a doctorate in applied clinical psychology. I served in the United States Army and deployed during a time of war. I have made it a personal mission to comprehend and assist others to overcome their personal battles.
With 30 years of experience as a therapist, I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Stanford University, specializing in school and community-based counseling. I'm dedicated to guiding clients through challenges like trauma, anxiety, and depression, fostering self-awareness and providing practical strategies for greater clarity and fulfillment. My practice is built on a compassionate approach, crafting personalized, evidence-based therapy to help you thrive. I also bring a unique perspective from my work as a university professor and international consultant, promoting mental health equity and inclusivity worldwide.
I became a therapist to help people suffer less and grow more. I have 15 years of experience in private practice, a mental health jail and a high-needs public clinic. I have led therapy groups focusing on childhood trauma, men's groups, feeling safe in love, attachment, codependence and spirituality. I was awarded Employee of the Year for LA County's Department of Mental Health. I supervise developing therapists and provide trainings on best clinical practices through public speaking and professional development.
Being a therapist and helping people overcome feelings of isolation and conflict is one of my life's greatest joys. I specialize in helping individuals, families, and couples work through depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues. I also provide critical assistance through domestic violence and rape counselling. It is important to me to help patients along on their journey through professional, evidence based counselling.
